Big Brother Africa contestants to host new reality show.

Seems like reality shows are popping up all over Africa ,and the latest african reality show in the making will air in April and will be hosted by Big Brother Africa's first ever winner , zambian Cherise Makubale .Gaetono Kagwa ,who was also another contestant on the show from uganda will also host .He currently hosts the lifestyle show "Studio 53".Here is a brief description of the show ,courtesy of jamati.com.

" The international show called Africa’s World Best (AWB) reality TV talent show is the first ever to bring together 60 Africans from all parts of the world into one house competing for one title with the biggest prize in the history of African TV to be won.

AWB Launch Party

The winner will in fact take home a cash prize of USD $100,000 and a brand new car.

AWB will go live in April. The show will involve talents such as singing, acting, performing arts, Comedy, poetry, script writing, dressmaking, jewellery making, sculpturing, dancing and other unique talents. All Africans with any special talent are strongly encouraged to apply ".

Contestants on the show ,who will range from singers, actors, comedians etc will have to live in a house for 60 days and there will be weekly evictions as voted by the public. So it's kind of like big brother mixed with idols and project fame.

I like the concept of the show, but I don't get the prize .If the aim is to expose africa and the world to talent, why not give a prize like a recording contract (if a singer wins) or something other than a car.I think the title is pretty lame as well.
What do u think? What should the prize be?For more info on the show ,check out jamati.com

Event fabulosity :Estelle+new music +Djimon and Kimora

Djimon and his fiancee Kimora Lee are expecting as I told you before and that hasnt stopped them from attending a number of events .Infact,I've seen pics of them almost everyday .They have been attending movie premieres (Djimon's movie Push is coming out soon),as well as pre-grammy parties abt a week ago ,and fashion shows .Peep the pics .I cannot wait to see that baby!
Estelle was a performer at the grammy's with Kanye West and I am not a fan of the outfits she wore .(As usual). She did not walk away empty handed .The star was spotted hitting up the Vip Gift lounge suite before the grammy's ,and was at a fashion show for fashion week .She has confessed to being in a relationship with an "american boy".(though she refuses to give names. She has a new song out as well,as she is working on her new album. Her new song is descibed as being different from her last album .Enjoy the pics and check out Estelle's new song.

Hello everyone,
If you've checked out the blog recently, you will remember when I said that the first ever MTV Africa awards would be taking place in lagos ,nigeria two weeks ago ,and I have exclusive pics of the awards and video.
I liked the opening of the show with the flags and all.Stars in attendance included D'Banj,Asa,Psquare(who performed),Naeto C,and american singers Florida ,Kelly Rowland and the Game (who performed). So ofcourse almost every award was won by a nigerian artist and the only other countries mentioned where Kenya and SA.

Africa Day Parade 2008!

On the morning of August 24th 2008,I was so excited that I was going to be attending the Africa Day parade.Let's just say that it was a huge dissapointment. The so called "parade" wasn't as diverse as i expected. It seemed that almost everyone was west african. Most of the performers did not do anything that I would call "African".It was Africans doing hip-hop and other carribean performers.I thought it was supposed 2 be African? There was no African food on sale as I would have expected,so we had to eat ice cream. The presenter didn't even know any African countries other than Sierra-Leone,Ghana,Nigeria,and a few other W.A countries. And there was no fashion show as was shown on the flier I had received earlier. So I hope the organizers of the event get their act together and put on a better show. Here are my personal pics of the Event ,and for more pics from the parade, click here.

Candids: Alek Wek/Oluchi/Liya Kebede at This Day in DC.

Finally I managed to get these pics after looking on-line for them since Friday! And I'm gonna put the link of the website I scored these pics from as a thank-you present.Click here for more of the pics.So the This Day festival went down on Fri August 1st at the kennedy center in Washington Dc.Alek,Liya and Oluchi among others took the runway and modelled Jewelery by Chris Aire and designs by Deola Sagoe.

Other celebrities present were Youssou N'Dour and Seal was supposed to be there as well.I think everyone looked nice, but im wondering why they didn't use more upcoming African models instead of the famous ones we already know.Or was that the point?
