Spotted:Lola Love hits up Vibe Magazine's 15th bday party.

Ethiopian model/video-vixen and actress was spotted at the Vibe Magazine's 15th bday celebration on Tuesday night.
I've seen her in so many pictures and she is pretty and all, plus she 's rich,so why did she look like she was dressed to attend a tea party at the white house? Those shoes are not cutting it and she looks greasy and like she just got botox.I thought models were supposed to pose better than the rest of us.I got the pics from ybf.com

Speaking of Miss Lola, the vixen is starring in a new Nigerian movie called Crazy Like a Fox".Peep the video trailer. All I can gather is that she's married to a rich white man and is a diva.(In the movie I mean).

It will be opening soon and i guess I'll watch the bootleg version because It might be so bad it will make me laugh. And I can save you the hassle by reviewing it .
I guess that if the movie is a flop,it won't hurt her career that much.I mean she makes money off her butt.

Spotted:!Fatima celebrates Italian Vogue's All-Black Issue with Tyra Banks/Where were the other African Models?/Video of Tyson and Alek commenting

Incase you've been hiding in a hole for a while(must be a big hole for you not to know this),Italian Vogue produced it's first all-Black issue in July. The magazine featured African models such as Liya Kebede,Alek Wek,Iman ,Yasmine Warsame and Ubah Hassan.Anyway, the mag flew off the shelves at break-neck speed and was sold out basically all-over the US that it had to be re-produced.WOW!Either people bought it because it was a work of art or some just wanted to support an event that has been long overdue .Or Both.(I'm thinking that I should have bought it and resold it on E-bay,or kept it for a couple of years so that it gained value, and then sell it on e-bay.Too bad I didn't).

Fast forward to Monday August 11th.Tyra decide to celebrate the success of the magazine by inviting all the models who were in the mag and others to Chelsea,NY for a photo shoot.Well,I viewed the pics, and trust me,I scoured the net for at least an hour, but I was unsuccessful in locating any pics of the African models. So,I'm guessing they were invited but couldn't make it.Well except Fatima from Cycle 10 of ANTM (But she wasn't even in the mag).I'm hoping Alek ,Iman and the others have a good enough excuse for not attending, because that was a major event that received a lot of media attention and could have been a platform to talk about how they felt about being featured .What a dissapointment! These models need to know that they are repping not just themselves but all African women. And why didn't Vogue use other African models like Nyabella to add to the wonderful lineup? And what about those girls from Nokia Face of Africa? Are they not high fashion enough?

And why did the Italians do the issue first when America could have stepped up first?

Anyway,I'm done ranting.Peep Fatima on the left.Look real hard 'cuz DUH,she wasn't in the front.Peep a video of Tyson and Alek commenting on the Issue.
.

What tastes really bad but is a symbol of respect?

Okay, this might feel like African Culture 101,but bear with me.I wouldn't be sharing this if It didn't have a point.Plus, you might actually learn something new and interesting ,like I did.

Anyway,I was at a wedding last week and the groom is from Nigeria while the Bride is Congolese. At one point in the wedding, this man announced that it was time for the Kola nut to be broken .The Kola nut is a nut that is native to west africa. It is offered to guests as a sign of welcome and respect and is taken seriously in west africa.Or at least according to the Nigerian man who was officiating.

The Kola nut was once made to make Cola (the soft drink) before artificial additives were used and contains a lot of caffeine. It also prevents hunger pains.

Anyway, back to the wedding:The nut was broken and offered to the bride and her family,as well as the other guests. The man had said not to judge the Kola nut by it's taste but by it's importance.Taking his advice,I chose not to eat the nut when offered (politely declining ofcourse). My sister's chose to be more adventurous and ten seconds after tasting it,they were spitting it into their napkins. So I guess I learnt something interesting and also added the Kola nuts on my "What food to never taste again."(Even though I didn't really taste it.Lol!)

Lastly,I think that I have learnt to always have the camera set.Because those looks of pure distate on my sister's faces would have made priceless television viewing.Oh well, lessons learnt.

You know how sometimes you're watching TV and you see an actor or singer and you instantly know that they're African? You feel it in your gut and sometimes it's just that they "look" African and sometimes it's just instinct.Anyway,I get that feeling sometimes and I actually did a little research and you'll be shocked to see the list of famous Africans that are famous. And I don't mean Alek Wek or Djimon Hounsou (Everyone KNOWS they're African).Peep who these Africans are ,where they're from originally and peep a video of one of them confirming their Najia roots.

Spotted:!Oliver Mtukuzi performs at SOBE'S

Zimbabwean and globally known singer Oliver Mtukuzi performed at hotspot SOBE's last Tuesday .He's looking a little frail(cheekbones looking hollow0 and old though. And what is up with those pants? The singer was also set to perform yesterday at the Brooklyn:Celebrate Africa event last night at 7.30pm.Peep some pics and footage of the concert at SOBE's.This post is for everyone who grew up listening to "Tuku",knows at least one of his songs,or saw Neria the movie where he performed.Or even if you only saw him once on channel O.Or if you are just plain interested.

Candids: Alek Wek/Oluchi/Liya Kebede at This Day in DC.

Finally I managed to get these pics after looking on-line for them since Friday! And I'm gonna put the link of the website I scored these pics from as a thank-you present.Click here for more of the pics.So the This Day festival went down on Fri August 1st at the kennedy center in Washington Dc.Alek,Liya and Oluchi among others took the runway and modelled Jewelery by Chris Aire and designs by Deola Sagoe.

Other celebrities present were Youssou N'Dour and Seal was supposed to be there as well.I think everyone looked nice, but im wondering why they didn't use more upcoming African models instead of the famous ones we already know.Or was that the point?

Allow me to Sulk!

Hello Everyone (If anyone will actually see this)...As you might have noticed,I haven't blogged in a while (about a month) .The reason for that is that I guess I have been discouraged due to the lack of comments, feedback and support that I have received. This blog was meant to be a way for africans in the diaspora to stay in the loop regarding African entertainment .I thought that this blog would be like concrete loop or ybf.com ..blogs that receive hundreds of visitors a day.But I guess it's really a borring blog that not many people like .I have considered just ending it,but i guess it's a good way to stay occupied .And i don't want to be a quitter .I am trying my best to make this more interesting by putting up more videos and by conducting interviews with up and coming African stars.(I'm sending the emails today).Plus,I am learning how to put music onto the blog as well.If that doesn't work,I don't know what will.
