Inspired by Africa:College candy talks fashion!

I haven't done my inspired by Africa section in a while :I will be moving it to facebook soon to draw more readers and have it linked to this site so that you have to actually come to the blog to read the whole story.

Anway,collegecandy.com is a college site that I write for and they recently did a post on how to wear Tribal fashions which are basically african-inspired .Designers tend to look at africa for their spring/summer collections and this year is not different.Im actually thinking of having Arietta Mujay ,who is a successful african stylist to actually show you how to put these pieces together in a later post .So ,if you are trying to rock the "Tribal" or Afro-centric look ,THEN HERE IS HOW YOU ROCK IT!

Kenya and Nigeria rep Africa on ANTM!

So the new season of America's Next Top Model is on tv ,(not the one where people got trampled over when trying to audition).Anyway ,there are two girls repping Africa. One is frm Nigeria ,her name is Aminat, and the other one's name is Sandra from Kenya.
so far, both girls have been struggling with taking pics.So ,my opinion?I really like Aminat because she looks like she has a face that could be on the runway soon and she is not bitchy ,unlike sandra who seems to think she is an african princess.wtf?Firstof all, what is up with her red shoes?I mean damn I know that I love my new black ankle boots but they are black, not red.she wears them all the damn time like they are the only shoes she owns. She has a model face and body ,but she also has a big mouth and can't walk for ish.And the worst part is this chick thinks that her walk "Rips the runway".Wtf?Chick needs a Miss J intervention asap!
so ,has anyone watching?does anyone think they will make it to the finale?who do u think takes the better pics and has a better walk?let me knw!

Interview with Face of Africa Winner Kate Menson.+West African Top Model?

I did a post the last time I blogged about Kate Menson ,who is the Ghanian that walked away with a modelling contract, nokia accessories and most importantly, the title of "Face of Africa " 2008.Here is an interview with her that was taken a few days after she won.

KATE MENSON FACE OF AFRICA INTERVIEW.

Speaking of modelling ,Oluchi, the winner of the first ever Face of Africa competition ,will be hosting West Africa 's version of "Top Model".Auditions are being held, and sixteen contestants will work those runways to try to be west africa's first top model.Apparently, this will be a continental show ,as after west africa, the rest of the regions will host "Top Model shows".Two questions ,:Will Tyra Banks make personal appearances? Will we have a cute judge like Nigel Barker,a Miss Jay and mr Jay,and someone as crazy as Janice was when she was a judge? If not,I won't even bother .Cuz Top Model is not Top Model without Miss Jay.I'll be waiting..Wanna be ontop? For more info,go to
Peep the Promo here .

Fatima Sizzles in Cosmo-Girl , Essence Mag,Style !Bermuda and Behind-the -scenes pics!

For those of you who watched America's Next Top Model's last season, you will remember Fatima Said ,the Somalian model who didn't win the show, but is still making paper by appearing in various magazines. Her latest poses were struck for Cosmo-girl's November 2008 issue in a Cover -Girl ad.I find that quite ironic,in that the winner of the show (Whitney in this case) scores a cover-girl campaign, and although she didn't win,Fatima and not Whitney has her face in Cosmo-girl .Ne hoo,she also appears in Essence magazine's November 2008 issue looking FIERCE!All i can say is go make that money Fatima!
Oh and I googled the other model in the pic and her name is Ayan Elmi. Her bio states that she is Candian, but I actually dicovered that she is African.I'm not sure exactly where she's from ,but I'm betting its East Africa (Ethiopia ,Sudan ,somalia are my three guesses)
So peep those gorgeous pics from Cosmo-girl ,Essence mag and style Bermuda incase you missed it (or never buy them),and some behind-the scenes pics. And let me knw which pics you like!

Lupe Fiasco designed a shoe for Converse that was part of Product Red,which is a collection of items that when sold, the money is donated to african causes such as the fight against Malaria. He actually did a shoe for them in March, and this is his second effort.I wouldn't actually run to buy them ,but one thing I am gonna die if I don't get is this Africa crossword tote being sold at the Gap for $20.Apparently it's sold out,but i have faith that I will get it..lol.
