Is Wale homophobic?

This story was on every other blog out there..apparently Nigerian rapper Wale was supposed to perform at an event in DC that was a gay pride event ...and he cancelled...the story is that his people were not informed of the nature of the event..or some ish like that..according to Honey Magazine,

"Rapper Wale is facing much criticism after canceling an appearance at a gay pride event in Washington D.C. One of the organizers of the event spoke to the D.C. Metro Weekly about the rapper’s last minute cancellation. “Basically, we had an agreement, and we were very clear to the different parties and agents involved that this was an LGBT event,” said D.C. Black Pride board member Earl Fowlkes. “What happened is that when the first blast went out that Wale was going to be at Black Pride he got cold feet, and his agent first said Wale wasn’t available because he had to do family stuff. Then we got another e-mail saying he didn’t know what kind of event this was when he agreed to it.” A rep for Wale released a statement explaining that Wale was not informed of the nature of the event. African Artists pissed about World Cup concert/Jub Jub undergoing counselling

Let me start this article by saying that I WILL BE at the 2010 Soccer world cup this summer..somehow im getting there...lol..ne way,there is a scheduled pre-world cup concert on June 9th in Soweto that will feature Alicia Keys ,Black Eyed Peas and more..
however,african artists are upset that the show will feature 50% international artists as they feel that "african artists wont be able to represent their countries "..30% of the singers will be from south africa and 20% from the rest of Africa...

In other news,Jub Jub ,the south african artist who was involved in an accident on 10th March that killed 4 students is out of jail.He was bailed out on a 10,000 rand fee and is now receiving counselling while he waits to be tried...he and his friend were drag racing and were apparently driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.they may be charged with murder ,reckless driving and driving under the influence.Apparently even inmates in jail threatened to kill him as did students that vandalized his home after the incident...

American Boy singer Estelle had previously announced that she was collaborating with Rachel Roy to design a jewellery line and the line was officially launched 2 days ago at Macy's in Herald Square,NYC.The singer who just released a single called "Freak" performed some of her hit songs.Peep the video below..are u guys feeling it?feels very Missy Elliot to me.i mean I would get down to it in the club but i just dont like the video..shes really doing something different from her 1st album with the pop and techno infused sounds.. .she even starts to look like her if u watch the video long enough..

In coupley news,The Kodjoes did a photoshoot with famed hollywood photographer Derek B who is known for doing alter -ego shoots.He 's shot everyone from Lance and Eva to the real housewives of Atlanta and others...the theme for this one was Bonny and Clyde..i just cant stop drooling over Boris..that is one gorgeous african man...*fans self...lol..

For it's 15th anniversary,Vibe put up the 51 albums that changed the game.His Immigres album that was released under Earth-Works in 1988 made the cut.

46664 Concert celebrating Mandela's Bday/Jamelia and Loyiso's Performance.

On Fri last week,the annual 46664 concert was held in London.The concert is an annual event ,that celebrates Nelson Mandela's Bday and also raises money for charity through the Foundation.This year,African stars in attendance where The Soweto Gospel Choir,Loyiso ,Jamelia (she's half Zimbabwean..yeah i had no idea too!) ..well those are the only ones I heard of...I'm sure you can catch the highlights on VHI..I saw some of the concert there last night..you can go to google and type in 46664 for info on how to donate ..damn ..i have to be there next year at least..lol..you can see pics of the event at 46664.com as well...Plus,i added a video of Loyiso and Jamelia's performance .

Africans at BET 2008/DID U SEE LUDA'S BLING?/WHO WASN'T THERE?

So the BET awards went down like about 2wks ago..African stars like Chikeze from Idols season 7 were there,Angel 'Lola Love' Melaku was there too..I didn't see Akon though..oh well..maybe he wasn't invited ?Hmm..Oh and did you see Luda's necklace ?It was the map of Africa..doesn't that rock?Well he did say that "The best women reside In Africa " so I guess he was showing us some love u knw..the neckalce is similar to the one Damien Marley wears in "welcome to Jamrock"..so ne way.i googled Africa necklace and I found this version on-line..it's pretty cute as well...don't you think so?

Damn, it seems like Akon is all over the show in terms of African celeb news.Well,firstly,unfortunately ,Akon will not perform in Zambia as he was scheduled to some time later this month,due to him having a "tight schedule".Guess he's too busy working on his highly anticipated album called Acquitted ,which is a follow up to his Konvicted album.The album was supposed to come out in early spring but has been pushed back indefinitely.

Which brings up the whole jail issue that the website called the Smoking gun talked about.The website claimed that the Senegalese singer fabricated some of his past statements ,mostly referring to the amount of time he had spent in jail."It's an article,Everyone is entitled to their own opinions" is what he had to say.

According to mtv.com,the singer is hoping for a Micheal J colabo and has recently worked with Kat de luna for the re-release of her 9 lives album.

Singer Ebo quits the music biz.

Ghanaian singer Ebo ,the man behind the famous "Once ,Twice " song has decided to put a hold on his singing career for good.According to Channelo.com,the singer's publicist mentioned that his music career was getting in the way of spending quality time with his loved ones.

I'm personally saddened by Ebo's decision because even though I only heard one song of his,it had me dancing like I was in a club.lol

So i decided to put up that memorable video up for all of you to see how good his music was.He kinda reminds me of Akon in a weird way.Is it just me who sees that?lol

Is Big Brother Africa 's Richard the next Van Viker?

From reality show contestant to actor?Hmm..haven't we all heard that one before?Well for Big Brother Africa 2 's winner Richard Bezuidenhout ,that's the way it is.The $100,000 winning Tanzanian is set to conquer Nollywood in a movie about a guy who falls in love with four sisters and manages to somehow convince them to sleep with them.That sounds like a perfectly dramatic Nollywood movie ,huh?So does anyone think that he will be the next Van Vicker ?Well Van is a bad boy in the movies and I'm personally in love with him so my vote on who's hotter and who reps the bad boys we hate to love goes 100% to Van.But I guess it won't be hard to play a cheater seeing as Richard was sexually involved with Angolan housemate Tatiana while he was still married .Old habits die hard ,huh?

I had never watched an episode of rip the Runway,the BET show that follows four models from casting calls to actually stepping on the runway and strutting their stuff.However,I was inspired to watch it when I heard that there would be an African Model on the show called Perry Mandinga.Here's a little profile of him.

Life before Rip the Runway:Perry began his modelling Career in Portugal ,where he moved to when he was fourteen.He appeared in a Nigerian soap campaign and was a struggling model trying to survive and make ends meet .Now,he lives in Carolina with his wife and twin daughters.

Channel O 's Dance Africa Returns!

For those of you who used to watch channel O back home, u might remember the show "DANCE AFRICA".The channel O team,led by hottie Lungile ,would travel around the continent searching for Africa's finest dancer.In the first season,south Africa won the prize,which was not surprising as the top 4 were from there.The fact that the judges were South African made it kind of obvious too.I remember feeling mad that the Zambian contestant called Lawrence (not westchester Lawrence!)did not win at least third place.I mean yes I'm Zambian so I would obviously support him but to be 100 % honest,If American chereograghers saw him like Wade Robson or Shane Sparks,they would agree.

So this time round,season 2 is in the audition phase and guess what?Zambia is not participating.I wonder why..Maybe it's the fact that almost everytime we Zambians are invited to shows in SA like Big Brother or Project Fame ,we win.Well except Big Brother Africa 2 .And I think that they should have at least gone to Zambia,seeing as one of the channel O presenters on O-Boma ,Chuma is Zambian.Shame on Channel 0

Africa's Next Top Model? (Fatima is on the right and Iman is on the left)

For those of you die-hard America's Next Top Model fans,you might have noticed something different this season.And no,it's not Miss Jay's ridiculous glittery brows and his jacket with the contestants names that he wears every episode.And no,not Twiggy's replacement.It's the contestant named Fatima from Somalia.Fatima has been the scene of drama from the first episode when she called one contestant "Ghetto" and when they were about to kick her ass,she broke down and said that she had experienced "Female Genital Mutilation",which is a horrible practice that involves female circumsision .Then everybody started to hug her.

Okay,so yes I'm proud that she's African and all but I think that she might want to keep her mouth shut too.I mean,it's horrible that she had to go through FGM but can't she shut up and grow up and stop dissing other people?

This is only an opinion but I think she made it as a finalist because of her story.I mean ,what does this portray about Africans?Do we all have to have had something bad happen to us to get somewhere in life?Either her story touched the judges,or her resemblance to Iman.Isn't Top Model about finding a different look?And whats with Fatima's bleached hair?Thanks to the makeover she looks presentable.Why does she think she's better than other's when Mr Jay had to tell her what to do at the recent photo shoot on the boat?I just want to say that not all African's are like her and as one contestant said,"You are the meanest African I've ever met".At least the other African girl in one of the other cycles called Naima was better.And Iman is a legend that can't be compared to anyone so enough.
